John Flores Bio

John Flores was born and raised on Chicago’s rough and tumble South Side. He attended Columbia College Chicago’s Film School in 2000, with an emphasis in directing. In 2002, John stopped attending Columbia to focus on his day job, but after a brief stint in New York, John got back to Chicago in 2005 and decided it was time to get serious about his filmmaking dreams.
After completing his feature script entitled Tale of a Suicidal Narcoleptic, John began production of the film with his lead actor, and production partner Brett Rosenberg in late 2006. The film shot on location in his hometown of Chicago, and wrapped in 2007, after which, John took the film with him on his move to Southern California.
The film was an official selection at both the 2008 Riverside International Film Festival, and the Action On Film Festival, and garnished a runner up nomination for the Audience Award, and a Best Dramatic Feature nomination.
In late 2008, John began production on another one of his scripts entitled Fear Of Flying, which is a semi autobiographical account of his move to Hollywood. The film is currently in post production. His work as a writer, has been described by his professor’s as “quick” ,and very “real” dialogue. He is known to be fast, able to turn around a first draft of a feature film in a week. His style is diverse, able to write dramatic character pieces, or sharp witted comedies. The one connecting trait in all his work, is a strong sense of story telling, with a strong emphasis on building relationships.
More recently John’s short film Modern Day Love Letter was accepted in the 2010 Indie Short Film Music and Arts Festival in Long Beach, and he also began production on a series he hopes to pitch to major networks entitled La La Land, about the struggles of living and working in Los Angeles.
John currently resides in Rancho Cucamonga, with his wife, and two dog
